Feature Review:
MUSIC & LYRICS - This is a very likeable, albeit flimsy, romantic comedy about an unlikely songwriting team. Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant sort of skate through the proceedings while the movie is nearly stolen by supporting performers Haley Bennett (as a Shakira/Britney Spears composite) and Kristen Johnston (as an old school fan). Lots of yucks, particularly because of the songs (written by Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne).

BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA - Based on the story of the same name comes this drama about a young teenage boy and girl who strike up an unusual friendship and create a fantasy world that they rule. Sort of cool, sort of weird, sort of sad, and sort of something that never really comes together. It has some very nice moments though and the two leads are both very likeable, especially AnnaSophia Robb.

The Number 23 - I give this movie a 2 out of 3 because it looks very good in certain spots (Director Joel Schumacher is an accomplished director who knows how to make elaborately detailed movies) but is pretty much a wreck otherwise. Jim Carrey is poorly cast in the lead role and the story is a contrived, convulted mess. Enough said.

GHOST RIDER - Sorry, this comic book turned into a movie has some interesting visuals (The Ghost Rider is totally cool and Eva Mendes is stunning) but the story is crappy and never fully gets rolling. The most annoying thing though is that Sam Elliott (cast as The Caretaker) still thinks he's playing The Stranger from the Coen Brothers' film, The Big Lebowski.
