Feature Review:
My Blueberry Nights - Director Kar Wai Wong's (In the Mood for Love, Chungking Express) first english language film is arty in both a good and bad way. It looks gorgeous and has a cerebral, thoughtful storyline but moves rather slow and doesn't really amount to much. Norah Jones, Jude Law, Rachel Weisz, David Strathairn, and Natalie Portman are a great acting ensemble and help make this film almost respectable. Rated PG-13.

88 Minutes - When this flick starring Al Pacino started I thought it was going to be awful but over time it won me over. Not that it is great but as far as the murder mystery genre goes these days it is above average. The pacing is engaging, the supporting cast is solid, and it kept me guessing until the end. That said, it is overly calculated and orchestrated and completely unbelievable but fun, nonetheless. Rated R for violence and brief nudity

Forgetting Sarah Marshall - This is a poorly executed comedy that is so lacking in laughs that I nearly left the theater. I have to admit it got a wee bit better, especially the puppet bit at the end, but no enough to evem come close to recommending it. Sad, considering that it is from the producers of The 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up and contains a likeable cast featuring Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis, Jason Segel, and Russell Brand. Rated R for male nudity (need I say more).
